Baray Greenhouse Project
Implementation on Stage Achieved
The Baray Greenhouse Project, led by Villageworks Cambodia, is promoting sustainable development and livelihoods through hydroponic vegetable cultivation.
This project is a vital response to the Climate Vulnerability Challenge facing our community. Traditional open-field farming is increasingly threatened by unpredictable rainfall, extreme temperatures, and pest infestations, leading to crop loss and food insecurity.
Significant progress has been made across the construction and setup phases:
Successful relocation of all greenhouse materials from Oudong.
- Stage 2: Laying the concrete foundation and structural support beams at the new site.
- Stage 3: Assembling the greenhouse frame and installing protective netting and plastic sheeting.
- Stage 4: Setting up the blue hydroponic grow pipes and irrigation system within the completed structure.
Installation of the hydroponic piping system and irrigation lines.
Recruitment and initial training of two local workers to manage the greenhouse operations.
The project, funded by a generous donation via Hungry For Life, involved relocating a used greenhouse, installing irrigation and hydroponic systems, and empowering two local villagers to manage the site.
