The Next Generation of Hydroponic Farmers
The successful completion of the first harvest cycle confirms the viability of the Baray Greenhouse Project and allows us to focus on the crucial next phase: scaling up capacity and community empowerment. This phase involves intensive recruitment and training to expand the benefits of hydroponic agriculture.
The primary goal of the next phase is to conduct capacity-building sessions for local farmers. While the project has already trained two local workers to manage operations, the upcoming training will expand this knowledge throughout the community, ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the initiative.
Ongoing training and capacity building for local residents in Baray area at the Centre will empower farmers, especially women, to develop more skills and income generating opportunities for their families.
The training sessions will cover all aspects required to successfully manage and operate the hydroponic vegetable cultivation systems. This will move beyond the initial training given to the two local workers and will focus on creating a skilled base of farmers.
